Marshall County Hospital Announces Appointment of New Chief Executive OfficerBenton, KY - Marshall County Hospital (MCH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven Luther, as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), effective March 9, 2026. Steven brings a strong record of healthcare leadership, with experience overseeing hospital operations and medical group services. He is known for a steady, collaborative leadership style and an unwavering commitment to patient-centered care, operational integrity, and community trust.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to welcome Steven Luther as the new CEO of Marshall County Hospital. As a county-owned institution, our hospital is more than just a provider of care—it is a vital, independent asset which belongs to the people of this community. We are confident under Steven’s leadership, we will continue to strengthen access to high-quality, compassionate care while upholding our commitment to local stewardship. We look forward to working closely with Steven to advance our mission and ensure the future of our healthcare remains firmly rooted here at home, serving our neighbors and surrounding areas for generations to come,” said Lauren Mann, MCH Board Chair.
Steven brings over 10 years of healthcare experience, having effectively overseen hospital operations and medical group services. His robust committee involvement further underscores his dedication to the field; he is a Fellow of the College of Healthcare Executives, a Certified Medical Practice Executive, and a Certified Quality Improvement Associate. Additionally, he serves as a board member of the LOTUS Children’s Advocacy and Sexual Violence Resource Center and has been honored as one of the 40 Under Forty by VUE magazine.
In accepting the position, Steven stated, "I am honored to step into the role as Chief Executive Officer and to serve Marshall County Hospital. This hospital exists because of its people—those who provide care, those who support it, and the community that relies on it every day. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside a dedicated team and to uphold the values of service, trust, and compassion that define this organization.”
On a personal note, Steven is married to his wife of 10 years, Cassandra Luther, and together they have two children: Hailey (6 years old) and Nathaniel (3 years old).
Steven’s arrival reflects a shared commitment to preserving what makes Marshall County Hospital special. His leadership marks an exciting step forward for the hospital, its employees, and the community who depends on it.
Mr. Fuqua's Retirement Announcement-October 17, 2025
After more than 12 years of dedicated service as Chief Executive Officer — and a total of 17 years across two tenures — David Fuqua has announced his plans to retire from Marshall County Hospital effective February 27, 2026.Fuqua earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Health Administration from the Medical College of Virginia. Over his distinguished career, he has spent more than 30 years in hospital leadership, serving as CEO at several healthcare organizations.
Reflecting on his tenure, David stated:
“It has been my honor to lead MCH and work alongside such a remarkable group of people who are deeply dedicated to their community and the care they provide. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, especially our ability to serve during times of community crisis — including the school shooting, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the tornado.”
During his tenure, David led initiatives that have strengthened the hospital and expanded access to care, including the Mercy Health MRI joint venture, Rural Health Clinic development, 340B program, new Medical Office Building, expanded physician recruitment, and the new urgent care clinic in Draffenville.
We are grateful for David’s vision, leadership, and service — and we wish him all the best in retirement (and in lowering that golf handicap!).
