GENERAL SUMMARY:

Director of the Pharmacy will be responsible for: providing a productive and viable Pharmacy Department to support the program of clinical care.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Develops and conducts a productive and viable Pharmacy Department to support the program of clinical care by managing the daily operation of the Pharmacy and supervising staff.

Prepare and manage annual budget.

Provide counsel, where requested, to other leaders and staff on issues, questions and matters related to the Pharmacy.

Provide clinical consultation and expertise in support of client assessment and care processes by consulting on drug therapy, drug regimen reviews and drug utilization reviews, consulting on drug storage and control.

Participates in the development and conduct of clinical, staff, and continuing education programs by providing orientation for new staff members in the department and developing or assisting in the development of in-service education programs based on the needs of the staff.

Manages the process of preparing, dispensing and monitoring needs of the staff medications by complying with prescriptions prescribed and ordered by a licensed physician and with applicable regulations and standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Ability to communicate with others by telephone.

Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing his/her work.

Ability to objectively appraise and analyze the qualifications and performance of others as well as the ability to plan and direct their activities.

Ability to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Graduate from an accredited School of Pharmacy with licensure as a Pharmacist in the State.

Three to five years of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy, one of which was in a supervisory capacity.

Experience with a 340b program is a plus.

Must be able to work flexible hours.
